Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait is a luxurious niche fragrance from the French brand Matiere Premiere, created by perfumer Aurélien Guichard. The perfume extract belongs to the oriental-woody fragrance family and is a unisex composition suitable for both men and women. Thanks to the soft and creamy character of sandalwood, the scent is often perceived as especially elegant and sensual on women, although its noble woody profile makes it universally appealing.
The fragrance is built around the main ingredient of the composition — natural Australian sandalwood.
In the Extrait version, the perfumer enhanced its depth and richness by adding more intense woody and resinous nuances. As a result, the composition sounds more concentrated, deeper, and more velvety while preserving the soft and creamy texture of the original fragrance.
The composition opens with a delicate and radiant iris accord.
